Where is Doral and why does it attract so many families?
Doral sits just west of Miami International Airport. It has direct access to the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826), the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) and Florida's Turnpike, which makes it easy to get to Brickell, Miami Beach or Kendall. It was incorporated as a city in 2003 and grew around a hub of offices, logistics and retail, so many residents work close to home.
Its large Venezuelan community earned it the nickname "Doralzuela." In 2013 it elected Luigi Boria, Florida's first Venezuelan-born mayor. Today families from all over Latin America live here, and Spanish is spoken in almost every store, office and doctor's office.
Highlights include CityPlace Doral (shopping, dining and entertainment), the nearby Dolphin Mall, the Trump National Doral golf resort and parks such as Doral Central Park, Doral Legacy Park and Doral Glades Park.
